TWITCH ACQUIRES SOCIAL NETWORKING PLATFORM BEBO FOR $25 MILLION

Twitch a subsidiary of Amazon, just acquired social networking platform Bebo for an amount close to $25 million. Together with Bebo, Twitch aims to work on its esports business and for Twitch Rivals series promotion. As per the contract, Twitch will retain all the employees of Bebo (10 currently) and IP.

Twitch wasn’t the only oneinterested in acquiring Bebo, some sources suggest that Discord and Facebook were also in the race, with Facebook offering close to $20 Million.

Instagram down: Social networking site suffering service outage

Another day, another service outage at social media giant Facebook. Yes, the photo and video-sharing social networking service Instagram has been hit by a worldwide service outage forcing its website and applications to go offline.

According to the Instagram’s outage map displayed on DownDetecter, the scale of this outage can be seen affecting users in United Kingdom, France, Hungry, Spain, Peru, United States, and several other countries.

Facebook to charge $10M per license to manage its cryptocurrency network

Companies wanting to help manage one of the 100 nodes on Facebook's cryptocurrency network will reportedly be charged a hefty fee.

Facebook is reportedly planning to charge companies $10 million each to operate the nodes on its future cryptocurrency network.

The social network could be launching its own Facebook cryptocurrency as early as 2020.

An independent foundation would manage the network behind the payments. Facebook is aiming to launch the network with 100 nodes, according to a Wednesday report in The Information (via The Block).
