July 17 (UPI) -- Chinese censors blocked mentions of Winnie-the-Pooh from social networking sites after photos comparing the cartoon bear to President Xi Jinping went viral.

Posts and comments that featured mentions A.A. Milne's famous stuffed bear, made famous by a series of Disney films and animated TV shows, were blocked during the weekend by China's Internet censors, users reported.

No official explanation was offered for the Pooh policy, but observers cited previous viral posts that compared the country's president to the portly bear.
