LinkedIn adds video support to become more of a social network

LinkedIn is primarily used as a business networking tool, or to find a job. While LinkedIn refreshed its entire site earlier this year, most users don’t use it for daily social networking updates like they might on Facebook or Twitter.

Russia upholds LinkedIn ban over data protection fears

A Russian court on Thursday upheld a decision to block the website of social networking company LinkedIn Corp., Interfax news agency reported, setting a precedent for the way foreign internet firms operate in the country.

Russia's Roskomnadzor communications watchdog has said LinkedIn, which has more than 6 million registered users in Russia, was violating a law requiring websites which store the personal data of Russian citizens to do so on Russian servers.



Last Monday, June 13, Microsoft buys LinkedIn for the whopping amount of $26.2 billion. The social networking site boasts more than 430 million members with 2 million paid subscribers. Up until recently, the site was at the top of its game. The company lost a huge bulk of its shares this year because of password dumps and the bid from Microsoft is all but a welcome announcement.
